The FE 24-70mm F2.8 GM II photographic lens is a revamped standard zoom lens, ideal for your basic three-lens set, with advanced optics and AF performance in a practical, compact and lightweight format that offers maximum mobility for photo and video. It is perfect for high-performance compact α-system camera bodies and covers a wide range of shooting situations. Bokeh at F2.8 extends throughout the entire zoom range, thanks to an advanced optical design and new 11-blade aperture unit. The effect is enhanced by precise control of spherical aberration in design and production. Two XA elements with 0.01 micron precision eliminate onion effect. Minimum focusing distance is 0.21 m at 24 mm and 0.30 m at 70 mm, with maximum magnification of 0.32x. This F2.8 24-70 mm zoom lens, the smallest and lightest in its class, offers unprecedented flexibility and freedom. It weighs only 695 g, 191 g less than its predecessor. It is also 16 mm shorter and about 18% less bulky. Incredible portability and mobility make it ideal for photo and video in a variety of professional and amateur situations. Sony’s original 4 XD (eXtreme Dynamic) linear motors, floating focus mechanism and advanced control offer high-precision AF and zoom tracking performance 2 times higher than its predecessor. With a compatible camera, it can achieve 30 fps. The new aperture unit also contributes to the high speed, with full AF tracking performance even for small aperture shots. The state-of-the-art lens structure reduces unwanted image shifts and angle changes to deliver smooth and expressive video. XD linear motors enhance AF and tracking performance by delivering exceptional detail through high frame rate recording. Independent focus and aperture rings are available, and with the Linear Response MF, manual focusing occurs with direct, linear response. The new dust- and moisture-resistant design offers more reliability in demanding conditions, and the fluorine coating keeps the front element clean. The included lens hood provides a special aperture for use of circular polarizing and variable ND filters (optional). Customizable focus lock buttons offer easy access and control in any orientation.
