The Allen & Heath AR84 8×4 I/O rack audio expander for SQ, Qu, Avantis and AHM systems is a portable remote rack audio expander for a digital mixing system. Allen & Heath AR84 remote provides 8 XLR inputs and 4 XLR outputs and must be wired to add additional inputs and outputs. The XLR sockets must be of the same or higher quality and specification as those on the digital mixing system and must appear in the soft patch of the digital mixing system for assignment to channels.

Flexible connections
Allen & Heath’s audio expanders offer flexible inputs and outputs for advanced configurations. They can include XLR, TRS and Dante ports for digital audio networks. These devices expand the capacity of mixers, providing a greater variety of audio sources and destinations. AES3 and S/PDIF connections are often present to ensure superior audio quality in professional settings.

Audio transmission via Dante or S-Link
Allen & Heath’s audio expanders offer a wide range of inputs and outputs, with configurations such as 16 or 32 XLR inputs and 8 or 16 XLR outputs in modules such as the DX168 or GX4816. Connections include Ethernet ports, for audio transmission via Dante or S-Link, and AES outputs for high-quality digital audio transmission.

Allen & Heath’s audio expanders offer great compatibility with Dante, AES67, S-Link, and MADI protocols. They allow integration with audio network systems and mixers such as dLive, Avantis, and SQ. They support connection via Cat5e or fibre optic to expand inputs and outputs. This flexibility makes them ideal for complex live and broadcast installation applications.
