Wireless microphones have been popular for several years now, especially in audio filming for television. A wireless microphone consists of two distinct units: a transmitter and a receiver. The transmitter, which can be pocket-size or hand held, is equipped with autonomous battery power supply and has the task of transmitting the signal via radio to the receiving unit located, generally, in the same environment in which the shooting takes place, from which the audio signal is taken in a conventional way through a line and sent to the audio mixer and recording equipment. The absence of cables allows an almost total freedom of movement on the scene.
