Blackmagic Design Web Presenter 4K is a compact desktop device that allows you to connect any SDI video input and transmit it live over the Internet, using Ethernet or tethering via USB to your smartphone with a 5G or 4G connection. SDI and HDMI monitor outputs allow a wide range of live status information to be displayed along with the transmission. It allows the input of any 12G/6G/3G/HD-SDI video source up to UHD 4K.
The USB Type-C port allows you to connect any USB video source, such as a webcam or computer, so you can stream 4K video and audio to any webcam-compatible platform and software, such as Skype, YouTube Live, Facebook Live, Twitch, Periscope, Teams and more on Mac, Windows, Linux and Chrome OS systems. It supports the H.264 codec and streaming via RTMP and can stream in resolutions up to UHD 4K. The unit downconverts 4K video if streaming in HD. When streaming 4K, it downconverts 4K video and upscales HD to 4K video. H.264 video can be transmitted via RTMP streaming protocols to the Internet via Ethernet, or connect a 5G or 4G phone to use mobile data.
The SDI and HDMI monitor ports provide detailed feed status information, so you can monitor whether you are ON AIR and the status of inputs, such as bit depth and stream quality, built-in audio input status, video and audio history, trend graphs, and video and audio counters. Basic status information can also be viewed on the bright LCD screen on the front of the unit. There is also an SDI loop output to monitor the original feed and send it to a switcher or router. In addition, all current streaming settings are clearly displayed.
The compact form factor allows it to fit into your broadcast configuration and is compatible with optional shelter racks in case you want to install it in a 1 RU rack. The dual AC/DC redundant power input is useful in the event of a mains power failure and you can use the 4-pin XLR input for DC power. The 4K Web Presenter is also compatible with the Blackmagic ATEM Streaming Bridge to decode streams into HDMI or SDI signals for additional routing options.
The 4K Web Presenter displays technical details of the SDI input, such as video standard and ancillary data. Bit activity indicators allow the quality and bit depth of the video to be seen before H.264 encoding. Audio, on the other hand, is de-embedded from the SDI input and the channel status is displayed. The bit activity indicator allows you to check for 16-, 20- or 24-bit audio. It is also possible to see which audio channels are present.
The audio and video technical displays also include a 6-second history display, which allows you to see the recent history of video inputs. This makes it possible to see immediately what is happening. Trend graphs below the video display allow you to see the last 60 seconds of codec data rate and cache fill. In addition, the codec data rate is crucial to ensure that your ISP provides sufficient speed.
A large area is dedicated to the video input display and the large multi-segment audio meter with accurate ballistics. It is also possible to change the type of audio meter between VU, PPM and others.
