It features primarily a redesigned focusing mechanism, allowing much greater precision in the range from 2 meters to infinity. The lens combines functionality, outstanding image quality and exceptional performance in all conditions, enabling filmmakers to discover new areas of shooting. Distortion close to 0% (the lens is virtually free of geometric distortion). Markings readable in any situation (Irix lens markings are etched and filled with UV-reactive paint, which means they are more visible in low light and up to 8 times more visible when using UV light than regular paint). Standard 0.8 focusing gears (Irix Cine lenses are compatible with most focusing systems, regardless of the technology used, manual or automatic). Front thread for 86 mm filters (the front of the lens has an 86 mm thread for the use of additional filters).
The lens has 11 diaphragm blades for outstanding image vividness) and offers a perfect seal (fully sealed for all weather conditions). The front of the lens is equipped with a patented magnetic mounting system that enables quick replacement of accessories and filters. The stabilization foot (the 1/4″ threaded foot allows even more secure mounting of the lens, which is important when using follow focus systems. It can be mounted on either the top or bottom of the lens). Focusing is internal, the optical construction of Irix lenses is designed so that the front element remains stationary during focusing. Because of this, dust or dirt associated with various weather conditions does not affect the operation of the lens, and its balance does not change.
