Advanced technology delivers exceptional resolution and refined bokeh, even at the maximum aperture of F1.8. With fast, accurate AF and uncommon mobility, the lens revolutionizes the way everyday scenes are captured. Two Extra-low Dispersion (ED) glass elements, which correct chromatic aberration, join a Super ED element with even more intense color compensation for excellent contrast and precise rendering throughout the image. Advanced optics with a recurved XA (extreme aspherical) front element minimizes sagittal stray light when capturing starry skies and, more generally, photographing night scenes. Sony FE 14 mm F1.8 GM offers a minimum focusing distance of only 0.25 m, for combining dynamic close-ups and beautiful bokeh in the background achievable at the maximum aperture of F1.8.
Sharp images and extraordinary contrast
Two XA (Extreme Aspherical) elements and a design conforming to high G Master standards provide outstanding resolution across the entire image surface even at the maximum aperture of F1.8. The use of one Super ED (Extra-Low Dispersion) and two ED glass elements effectively reduces chromatic dispersion, improving contrast and sharpness. In addition, Sony’s Nano II anti-reflective coating minimizes stray light and ghosting for superior image quality.
Wide aperture in a compact lens
With high-precision aspherical elements, including two XA elements in the innovative G Master design, and Sony’s XD linear motors, this lens delivers outstanding performance across the entire 360° scene. Weighing only 460 grams, it is an ultra-wide-angle, large-aperture lens perfect for taking anywhere and capturing new perspectives of the world.
High-resolution for night skies
In addition to an ultra-wide angle of view and large aperture, the innovative curved XA front element optics minimizes sagittal stray light when shooting at night. With a maximum aperture of F1.8, you can shoot in low-light conditions without resorting to long exposure times, while the compact size makes it easy to carry and use on the fly.
Fast, accurate and silent autofocus
The two XD (eXtreme Dynamic) linear motors provide the power needed for fast, precise and silent focusing action, optimizing AF performance for E-mount cameras. The quiet, low-vibration autofocus is ideal for ultra-wide-angle video shooting, while its mobility and responsiveness ensure great freedom in shooting.
