The Tilta MB-T15 Mini Matte Box is a compact and ultra-lightweight solution designed for filmmakers working with mirrorless or DSLR cameras, ideal for lightweight rigs and run-and-gun shooting. The main body, made of aluminium alloy, weighs just around 140 g. Supports a single fixed filter stage measuring 4 × 5.65″ that can be inserted into a trayless slot, without the need for additional sliding trays.
The MB-T15 includes a carbon fibre French flag with wide coverage, useful for shielding unwanted flare or reflections affecting the lens.

This flag is adjustable and can also be folded down to directly protect the front lens. For mounting, the MB-T15 offers multiple 1/4‘‑20 and 3/8’‑16 threads and cold-shoe mounts, allowing accessories such as LEDs, microphones or monitors to be installed on the matte box body. A single 15 mm rod-based clamp is included, which attaches underneath the matte box to support some of the weight and improve lens stability (note: not compatible with telescopic front element lenses).

The kit also contains four threaded adapter rings to accommodate different lens diameters; these rings also allow the use of threaded filters directly on the lens, using the internal thread of the ring itself. The design does not include swing-away mechanisms — the box remains fixed — which limits the speed of lens change but maintains compactness and lightness. Thanks to these features, the MB-T15 is perfect as a clip-on matte box for lightweight rigs, drones, entry-level gimbals or run & gun setups, where low weight and ease of mounting are priorities.
