The Hoya Mist Diffuser Black No. 1 is a creative filter for photo and video with a 77mm diameter, part of the Mist Diffuser series and designed to achieve a mist softening effect. Once mounted on the lens, it slightly reduces contrast and diffuses light sources within the frame, giving images a softer, more cinematic look. This Hoya Mist Diffuser Black filter is designed for those seeking controlled light diffusion directly in-camera. Unlike other diffusion filters, the Mist Diffuser Black line does not brighten or wash out the image, preserving the scene’s original colors. The intensity of the effect depends on the lens’s focal length, exposure time, and exposure compensation settings, so the final result remains a creative choice for the photographer or videographer. The No. 1 version produces a more visible result compared to the No. 0.5 version, which creates a subtler effect and is suited to evening shoots or scenes with light sources close to the camera. The No. 1 is better suited to night scenes and more distant light sources. The softening effect is especially effective in evening portraits and sunrise or sunset landscapes, where light rays cross the frame. It can be used for both photography and video, outdoors and indoors. The Mist Diffuser Black 77mm is a 77mm mist effect filter compatible with lenses with a 77mm filter thread: check your lens’s filter diameter before purchasing.
