The Hoya HD Nano Mk II CPL 72 mm polarizing filter is an optical accessory designed to reduce unwanted reflections on water, glass, and other non-metallic surfaces. Part of the HD Nano Mk II series, it is compatible with lenses featuring a 72 mm filter thread.
As a 72 mm CPL polarizing filter, it improves contrast and color saturation in outdoor shooting—particularly for blue skies and foliage—and facilitates capturing glass surfaces in automotive, architectural, or product photography. The HD polarizing film reduces exposure by 1 stop.
The optical glass is chemically hardened and features 32 layers of anti-reflective and hydrophobic coatings. Hydrophobic and oleophobic treatments limit water spots and fingerprints, while anti-reflective coatings help reduce flare and ghosting in intense light conditions.
The polarizer effect depends on the angle between the light source, subject, and camera: rotating the filter adjusts the intensity of reflection reduction and sky saturation. Before purchasing, ensure the lens filter diameter is 72 mm, as indicated in the lens technical specifications. The filter is used in landscape photography involving water and vegetation, architectural shoots, and product photography with glass or reflective surfaces.
