The Allen & Heath DX168 audio expander 16×8 I/O is a portable remote audio device for dLive, Avantis, SQ and AHM-64 mixing systems.
The Allen & Heath DX168 audio expander 16×8 I/O for SQ, AHM, Avantis and dLive mixers is a portable remote audio device for dLive, Avantis, SQ and AHM-64 mixing systems. The remote audio unit provides 16 XLR inputs with individually configured phantom power and 8 XLR outputs. Phantom power LED indicators are provided for each input jack on the remote audio rack. Two Ethercon DX link connectors are provided to carry digital audio and control signals. The unit will be able to operate in ‘redundant’ or ‘cascade’ mode by means of a mechanical switch. In ‘redundant’ mode, the unit provides a fully redundant connection to a dLive S-class surface or Mixrack. In ‘cascade’ mode, the unit allows two units to be connected in series with a single cable connection to the dLive, Avantis, SQ or AHM-64 mixing system. The Ethernet protocol provides control to the remote preamplifier, and all microphone preamplifiers are callable on-stage from the digital mixing system. The unit’s firmware automatically updates when it is connected to the digital mixing system.
Allen & Heath’s audio expanders offer flexible inputs and outputs for advanced configurations. They can include XLR, TRS and Dante ports for digital audio networks. These devices expand the capacity of mixers, providing a greater variety of audio sources and destinations. AES3 and S/PDIF connections are often present to ensure superior audio quality in professional settings.
Allen & Heath’s audio expanders offer a wide range of inputs and outputs, with configurations such as 16 or 32 XLR inputs and 8 or 16 XLR outputs in modules such as the DX168 or GX4816. Connections include Ethernet ports, for audio transmission via Dante or S-Link, and AES outputs for high-quality digital audio transmission.
Allen & Heath’s audio expanders offer great compatibility with Dante, AES67, S-Link, and MADI protocols. They allow integration with audio network systems and mixers such as dLive, Avantis, and SQ. They support connection via Cat5e or fibre optic to expand inputs and outputs. This flexibility makes them ideal for complex live and broadcast installation applications.
