The new Atomos Shogun Ultra 7″ HDR monitor and recorder 8K RAW for DSLR, mirrorless and cinema cameras is the gateway to incredibly fast and productive cloud workflows. It’s much more than a super-bright monitor recorder-it takes you to new levels of productivity and creativity by enabling faster and more efficient work nodes. Shogun Ultra’s large, super-bright 7-inch screen is visible in almost any lighting context. Indoors or out, wherever critical, visible and immediate feedback on images is needed. With a brightness of 2000 nits, it is ideal for checking HDR footage while still on set, replaying recently captured shots on the same screen to review or upload to the cloud.
Shogun Ultra has two sides: Local and Cloud. If you use it conventionally, you have an incredible HDR screen, new monitoring tools, and HDMI and 12G-SDI. By activating its wireless and network capabilities, you have access to new and productive cloud workflows, such as camera to cloud and Atomos Edit. You can even edit your project in the cloud and post it directly to social media minutes after filming the action. Shogun Ultra can capture RAW inputs up to 8K at 30fps, 6K at 60fps and 4K at 30fps and simultaneously output a standard video signal viewable via HDMI or SDI for devices that do not support RAW formats. With a super-bright 7-inch 2000nit SuperAtom IPS touchscreen for clear images and easy accessibility to AtomOS functions, Shogun Ultra has a new operating system and user interface. In addition to network and SDI connectivity, you can access super-efficient cloud workflows and cross-conversion between HDMI and SDI. Take advantage of the new ultra-fast and reliable WiFI 6E for more stable connections. Shogun Ultra, which can be controlled remotely via Bluetooth with the AtomRemote App, is the most practical and convenient way to stream, transfer and edit in the cloud.
It records full quality files in ProRes RAW up to 4K 60p and simultaneously records HD 60p in H.265. It is the best of both worlds. You can store the final copy in ProRes RAW ready for the post-production workflow and use the copy in H.265 for camera to cloud tasks. The new 4K camera to cloud mode allows you to record and upload much higher quality H.265 video at higher framerates. H.265 files are half the size of H.264 media. They are small enough for camera-to-cloud workflows but more than enough for immediate use on social media or for newsgathering. It is also a very useful mode for recording proxies up to 4K 60p to match an original in-camera file (OCF). The new Shogun line includes these codecs for free, so you can choose the ideal codec for your projects including Apple ProRes, Apple ProRes RAW, H.265, DNx (QuickTime), DNx (MXF).
Automatic matching of file names, timecodes and recording triggers from ARRI, Canon, RED and Sony cameras. Through collaboration with ARRI, Canon, RED and Sony, Atomos’ C2C files are matched to the original in-camera file names (OCFs). This provides a unified process when conforming C2C files or SSD proxies in editing with camera files. Shogun’s full range of inputs and outputs enables capturing the highest quality video from the widest range of cameras and connecting to the cloud, for new ultra-fast and productive workflows. The ability to record up to 8K using advanced edit-ready formats, including ProRes RAW, ProRes and DNxHD/HR, requires fast, robust and extensive storage.
