The new Atomos Ninja 5″ 4K HDMI monitor and recorder for DSLRs and mirrorless cameras is a small monitor-recorder that is ideal for DSLR and mirrorless cameras. Ninja handles video sources with up to nine times the resolution, has a 5-inch HDR screen, records in ProRes, and connects to almost any camera in the world. The new AtomOS 11 operating system unleashes Ninja’s full potential with new firmware that optimizes memory management for greater responsiveness. It also enables a host of new features. A powerful new addition to AtomOS 11 provides the EL zone and ARRI colored exposure display as a selectable alternative to the Atomos false color. By coloring the exposure in stops, you can see exactly the true dynamic range referenced to the scene directly from the camera, ideal for exposure evaluation in HDR and SDR productions.
By setting up time lapse recording you can control it from your Ninja, completely independent of the camera controls. For longer projects, however, you can use the Ninja’s screen and its huge removable memory for precise visual alignment. The new Ninja line includes free Apple ProRes, Apple ProRes RAW, H.265, DNx (QuickTime)n and DNx (MXF) codecs, giving you more options for choosing the ideal codec for your projects. Powerful Onion Skin and Frame Grab functions built in as standard features enable you to stage smart movie shots and save time in post-production. Onion Skin overlay simplifies stop-motion and jump or matching cuts. Capturing frame grabs live on set saves time in creating thumbnails and provides a quick reference to share with the team.
