The Hoya CinePRO HD Black Mist 1/4 is a diffusion filter for video, cinema, and photography that achieves a cinematic look directly in-camera, reducing the need for heavy post-production work. It gently softens the excessive sharpness of digital images, smooths skin imperfections, and creates natural halation around light sources, while preserving overall contrast and image integrity. The effect is designed to produce an organic, film-like atmosphere without heavy post-production processing, making it well suited to interviews and portraits thanks to its softer rendering of skin texture. The 1/4 grade offers balanced diffusion, visible yet controlled, and is identified by the manufacturer as the most versatile option for everyday cinematic shooting, suited to filmmakers, content creators, and photographers. This Black Mist 1/4 77mm version uses Schott B270i optical glass with a water-repellent, scratch-resistant coating for easy cleaning, mounted on an anodized aluminum frame. The front thread allows other filters, such as ND or polarizers, to be combined on the same lens. Before purchasing, check your lens’s filter diameter: the 77mm size fits lenses with a matching front thread. On Martcom you can buy the Hoya Black Mist 1/4 in the 77mm size, complete with full technical specifications.
