The Sony ECM-M1 digital on-camera shotgun microphone is an excellent choice for shooting or streaming video where the speaking subject is positioned directly in front of the microphone. The unidirectional mode is an excellent choice for recording conferences and meetings. With the omni-directional audio mode, the same sounds can be captured as with the typical built-in camera microphone, but with greater clarity and sensitivity, and is recommended for recording ambient sounds. The microphone picks up audio from the front at an amplitude of approximately 30 degrees while effectively eliminating other sounds, adapting dynamically to ambient noise. The ultra-directional mode is an excellent choice for capturing content such as interviews or selfies where the subject is always in front of the microphone. The ECM-M1 utilises beamforming technology and advanced digital processing to offer eight audio recording modes, including stereo, for versatility and superior audio quality in a wide range of shooting situations.
