The Sony Full-frame FE 50mm f/1.4 GM E-mount photographic lens has a constant aperture at F1.4 with 11 blades. It has one ED (Extra Low Dispersion) element, two XA (extreme aspherical) and one aspherical element. The precisely positioned XA elements in the innovative design, high-power XD linear motors and new compact circular aperture unit combine in this high-resolution wide-aperture lens with 80.6 mm outer diameter, 96.0 mm length and 516 g weight. The unique combination of mobility and performance in dim light make it ideal for everything from portraits to snapshots. The focus group is driven by high-power XD (Extreme Dynamic) linear motors and an advanced control algorithm for smooth and responsive focusing. Noise and vibration are reduced for accurate and quiet AF operation, a great advantage for filming. Video subjects are captured and tracked smoothly even at 120 fps or higher. Linear response MF offers manual focus that rivals mechanical lenses, with smooth transitions in videos. Aperture lock allows the aperture to be locked in the “A” position, preventing unwanted changes, or manually set from F1.4 to F16. The two customizable focus lock buttons and AF/MF dial provide further versatility.
Incomparable optical quality of the G Master Series
The outstanding quality of the G Master series is reflected in every detail of the image. The two high-precision XA (extreme aspherical) elements correct distortion and most optical aberrations. The new optical design includes an ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass element to eliminate chromatic aberration. In addition, our unique AR Nano II coating minimizes internal reflections, preventing stray light and ghost images.
Perfect bokeh with F1.4 aperture
Innovative optical design and F1.4 aperture ensure soft, blurred bokeh, creating perfect contrast between subject and background, ideal for portraits. Advanced features, such as XA (extreme aspherical) elements, reduce the “onion” effect, while spherical aberration optimization contributes to even more refined bokeh quality.
