With this cable, signals and data transfers going in and out of the cable are handled with a buffering device to ensure consistent signal quality while meeting the higher electrical and timing specifications of USB. Passive cables longer than 490cm, for data transmission purposes, may cause signal errors or noise and are not recommended. Up to four active USB extension cables and one 15′ (4.57m) passive USB extension cable can be cascaded before a drop in signal or quality is detected.
