With this cable, signals and data transfers going in and out of the cable are handled with a buffering process to ensure consistent signal quality while meeting the higher electrical and timing specifications of USB. Passive cables longer than 4.9m, for data transmission purposes, may cause signal errors or noise and are not recommended. Up to four active USB extension cords and one 15′ (4.57m) passive USB extension cord can be cascaded before a decrease in signal or quality is detected.
