The Sony RX1R III is the highly anticipated evolution of the RX1R series, finally returning after nearly a decade with true top-of-the-line specifications. At its heart it mounts an impressive 61 MP full-frame Exmor R sensor, taken directly from models such as the A7R V, coupled with the powerful BIONZ XR processor and an AI unit for advanced autofocus and reliable tracking of eyes, faces and moving subjects.

The fixed lens remains the high-quality ZEISS Sonnar T* 35 mm F2 lens, micron-optimized for outstanding performance in a compact body. The ZEISS Sonnar T* 35 mm F2 lens features a macro ring for magnifications down to 0.26× at a distance of only 20 cm. In addition, through the “Step Crop Shooting” function, 50 mm and 70 mm simulations can be obtained directly from the sensor.

On the video side, the Sony RX1R III camera supports 4K recording at 30 fps (10-bit) and full-HD up to 120 fps with S-Cinetone profile and 12 Creative Looks. The AF system has 693 PDAF points and 78% coverage of the sensitive area. The magnesium alloy body is compact and lightweight, integrates 2.36 M-dot OLED viewfinder and same-level rear touchscreen (fixed, not articulated). Battery life has improved to about 300 shots with NP-FW50, and charging is via USB-C.
