The FE 16mm F1.8 G Lens is compatible with standard 67mm filters, is compact and lightweight, and is easy to balance on a gimbal.
Two XD (eXtreme Dynamic) linear motors ensure fast and accurate autofocus (AF) and tracking. Thanks to the specially designed control algorithm for these motors, the lag and vibration that might occur with a large focus system are minimized, thus ensuring extremely quiet operation with minimal vibration. This makes it possible to capture special moments even with fast-moving subjects.
Sharp images without aberrations
The lens featuring two AA (advanced aspherical) elements, minimizes field curvature and astigmatism, providing exceptional resolution across the entire image at any aperture. The Super ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass element and three ED elements correct chromatic aberration even at the edges of the image, while the advanced optical coating minimizes reflections and ghosting.
Excellence in wide-angle perspectives
This G-series lens delivers an extraordinary bokeh effect thanks to its wide maximum aperture of F1.8, the 11-blade circular diaphragm, and precise control of spherical aberration. Close-up performance is exceptional, with a minimum focus distance of 0.15 m and a maximum magnification of 0.25x with autofocus (0.13 m, 0.30x in manual focus).
Wide aperture in a compact lens
Thanks to the use of aspherical elements, including Sony’s high-precision AA (advanced aspherical) lens, it has been possible to design a compact full-frame ultrawide lens, measuring 73.8 x 75 mm and weighing just 304 g. Small, lightweight, and easy to carry, it still delivers stunning images for a wide range of subjects, including landscapes, architecture, night scenes, and much more.
Advanced features for maximum versatility
The lens features a focus ring, a focus hold button, a focus mode switch, an aperture ring, and an IRIS LOCK switch. The focus hold button can be customized to assign alternative functions. The aperture ring provides manual control, while the ON/OFF switch adds versatility.
