The Allen & Heath AVANTIS digital audio mixer incorporates Allen & Heath next-generation technologies in a 64 channels and 42 bus fully configurable console.
The Allen & Heath AVANTIS digital audio mixer with 64 channels and 42 Bus incorporates Allen & Heath’s next-generation technologies in a 64-channel, 42-bus configurable console with dual full HD touchscreens, extensive I/O options, and processing capabilities derived directly from the top-of-the-line dLive series. Avantis uses many of the features that have made SQ and dLive so popular, putting them into a stand-alone 64-channel mixer that offers a new experience in user interface, connectivity with the ‘Everything I/O’ system, and the dPack option that gives access to dLive’s advanced processing features. Embedded in the alloy shell and tubular chassis, Avantis’ control surface is centered on the two Full HD touchscreens and corresponding rotary controls. Also featured is an Ethernet “SLink” local audio expansion port with lockable EtherCON connector, capable of supporting multiple protocols (gigaACE, DX, GX, dSnake, ME) and providing access to up to 128×128 digital channels. There are two 128-channel I/O ports for optional digital interface modules. Optional interface modules include MADI, Dante, Waves SoundGrid, gigaACE and AES/EBU. There is a BNC connector on the unit for wordclock input or output, switchable in software. The mixer provides automatic microphone mixing (AMM) of up to 64 microphone sources in 1 or 2 or 4 zones. The AMM shall be capable of operating in classical gain-sharing mode or optionally as a NOM (Number of Open Microphones) algorithm. The signal generator is capable of sending a variable level signal to any input and output. The following signal types will be available: Sine, White Noise, Pink Noise, and Band Pass. As for I/O, Avantis is well equipped with 12 XLR analog inputs, 12 XLR analog outputs, and AES (Stereo In, 2x Stereo Out). Two additional I/O ports allow Avantis to benefit from the full range of current dLive option cards, including Dante (64×64 and 128×128), Waves, gigaACE, MADI and others, bringing advantages for system integration, FoH/monitor signal splitting and multitrack recording. Avantis is ready for use with processing tools designed to meet the needs of most users and applications, including compressors, equalizers, and Allen & Heath’s acclaimed RackExtra FX units (12 slots). The upgrade to dPack further expands Avantis with additional dLive processing including the Dyn8 dynamics engine (up to 16 instances), DEEP compressors, and Dual-Stage tube preamplifier. The recommended operating temperature for the mixer is between 5 and 40 degrees Celsius.
Avantis uses next-generation FPGA technology to deliver high processing power, with 96kHz sampling rate and ultra-low latency. This advanced hardware allows the mixer to handle up to 128 input channels and 42 mix buses, providing an ideal configuration for complex shows and broadcast applications.
Allen & Heath’s DEEP technology enables the integration of classic processing emulations, such as compressors and EQs, directly on the channels, reducing latency and the need for external plug-ins. In addition, the RackExtra FX provides a range of advanced high-quality effects, offering creative options without compromising on audio quality.
The Avantis series supports various connection options, including Dante and MADI ports for easy integration with other audio systems. Expansion slots make it possible to add additional I/O modules, enabling a highly customisable and flexible configuration to suit the user’s needs.
Equipped with two 15.6″ touchscreens, Avantis makes the mixing experience intuitive and interactive. The screens allow you to quickly access key parameters and customise the layout of functions, giving you the ability to create an interface tailored to your workflow.
