The Hoya Mist Diffuser Black No 1 is an 82mm creative filter from the Mist Diffuser series, designed to soften the image and achieve a mist effect in both photography and video recording. Mounted on the lens, it slightly reduces contrast and diffuses light sources within the frame. Unlike other diffusion filters, the Hoya Mist Diffuser Black does not brighten or whiten the image, ensuring the scene’s original colors are maintained. Effect intensity depends on lens focal length, exposure time, and exposure compensation settings, leaving the final creative choice to the image maker. The Mist Diffuser Black series is available in two densities: No 0.5, which creates a subtle effect suitable for evening shots or light sources near the camera, and No 1, which produces more visible results better suited for night shots or more distant light sources. The manufacturer recommends the effect for evening portraits and landscapes at sunset or sunrise. It can be used both outdoors and indoors without changing standard camera settings, allowing for experimentation with shutter speed and aperture to adjust the result. This mist effect filter is aimed at photographers and videographers seeking a soft, cinematic look directly in-camera, without the need for post-production. Before purchasing, verify that the lens filter diameter matches the filter: for the Hoya Mist Diffuser 82mm, the size is 82mm.
