Its 12.1MP Exmor R BSI CMOS sensor (10.2MP effective in video mode) pairs with a BIONZ XR processor to achieve UHD 4K video capture with internal 10-bit 4:2:2 sampling or 16-bit raw output. The sensor’s BSI design heightens clarity and sensitivity, with an expandable ISO 80-409600 range and greater-than 15-stop dynamic range for working in mixed lighting conditions. For uninterrupted 4K / 60p11 shooting, Sony FX3 full-frame Cinema Line camera uses an innovative heat dissipation system. Its placement, airflow structure and quiet fan optimize cooling even during prolonged shooting. In addition to the built-in microphone, the full-size XLR connectors on the handle allow you to connect several professional microphones externally through a digital audio interface via Multi-Interface Shoe (MI). You can choose from three recording formats, including 4-channel 24-bit. Digital audio recording is also possible by connecting a digital microphone such as the ECM-B1M.
Compact dimensions with robust construction
The camera is designed for professional use and combines compact dimensions with robust construction. The lightweight and easy-to-handle body is designed for mobility during shooting. The ergonomic layout of the controls and the improved grip provide a comfortable user experience, even for long recording sessions. The integration of numerous mounting points, including 1/4’ threads, facilitates use with external accessories without the need for an additional cage.
Outstanding image quality
The camera offers outstanding image quality, thanks to its 12.1-megapixel full-frame sensor and advanced processing technology. This enables the capture of extraordinary detail and a wide dynamic range, making low-light shooting particularly effective. With support for the S-Log3 colour profile, a wide range of colours and hues can be achieved, facilitating colour grading in post-production.
Versatile range of recording formats
The Sony camera offers a versatile range of video and photo recording formats, adapting perfectly to your needs. It is capable of recording 4K video at up to 120 fps, ensuring excellent quality and smoothness. In addition, it supports the XAVC S format, allowing images with high dynamic range and amazing detail to be captured. For stills, the FX3 offers resolutions of up to 12 megapixels, ideal for high-quality shots.
High-capacity battery
The Sony camera uses a high-capacity NP-FZ100 battery, which offers long battery life for uninterrupted shooting. Thanks to efficient power management, the camera enables continuous 4K recording sessions, optimising performance even during intensive shooting. Battery life is further extended with the USB-C power option, allowing the use of power banks for longer shots in the field.
