The autofocus, based on a voice coil motor (VCM), is fast and quiet, making it suitable for street and video photography. The focal length of 28 mm (equivalent to 42 mm on APS-C sensors) offers a versatile perspective, while the fixed aperture at f/4.5 limits depth of field and low-light performance. The metal body lends ruggedness, but the lack of sealing against dust and moisture and the absence of filter threads can be limitations in harsh environments. Despite these limitations, the Viltrox AF 28mm f/4.5 FE is an excellent choice for those seeking an ultra-portable lens for everyday use and travel.
