The Allen & Heath DM48 dLive MixRack audio mixer 48×24 I/O features a distributed system design with separate MixRack and Surface. The dLive processing brain is housed in the MixRack. The MixRacks and DM48 Surfaces are mix’n match compatible, with common configuration, setup and show files. The MixRacks also contain the same processing engine, pioneered by Allen & Heath’s R&D team with next-generation FPGA technology. The 96k/96bit XCVI core is capable of handling 128 inputs with full processing and 16 dedicated stereo FX returns, offering 160 inputs to mix, as well as a fully configurable 64 mix bus architecture, with full processing on all 64 mix channels. dLive incorporates the DEEP processing portfolio of integrated plugins, including graphic EQs, compressors, multi-band compressors and dynamic EQs, as well as 16-slot FX racks, with Allen & Heath’s acclaimed range of FX emulations. The Allen & Heath DM48 MixRack is the heart of any dLive system. It houses the XCVI processing core complete with audio I/O ports, control and audio networking. It is typically connected to a dLive Surface, but can also be controlled simultaneously or even without a Surface using a laptop or iPad, Allen & Heath IP remotes or third-party controllers via TCP/IP. It has 48 mic/line inputs, 24 line outputs and an XCVI 160 × 64 FPGA core.It also features variable bit depth for maximum precision and noise performance.

DESIGN

Easy access to expansion modules

All dLive MixRacks use the same mixing engine, with 128 input channels and 64 mixing outputs, a configurable 64-bus architecture, ultra-low latency of 0.7 ms and phase-aligned signal paths, providing maximum flexibility. They differ in the number of analogue I/Os, redundancy options and digital I/O card slots. The modular architecture allows different I/O configurations to easily adapt to various audio setups, and the design offers easy access to expansion modules.

AUDIO

Audio processing power and FPGA architecture

The dLive MixRacks are based on a powerful audio processing engine with XCVI FPGA technology, operating at 96kHz to ensure outstanding audio quality and incredibly low latency. The FPGA architecture offers dedicated processing capacity for each individual channel, allowing up to 128 inputs and 64 outputs to be handled with high precision and detail.

CONNECTIVITY

Connectivity and integration with network protocols

The dLive MixRacks support numerous audio network protocols, including Dante, Waves and MADI, for maximum flexibility and compatibility with other devices and systems. Each MixRack is equipped with Gigabit network ports for fast and stable connections, enabling integration with AV platforms and remote control systems.

USER

User interface and remote control

Control of the dLive MixRacks can be done via dedicated control surfaces, such as the dLive consoles, or via the dedicated app for tablets and computers, which allows for intuitive and customisable interaction. The user interface offers a wide range of options for routing, preamplifier management and signal processing, all configurable through customisable scenes and presets to meet different usage needs.
