Sony Alpha A1 full-frame 50.1 Megapixel with FE 24-70mm F2.8 GM II lens is a powerful 50.1 Megapixel full-frame camera designed to deliver exceptional image quality and advanced performance. With the ability to shoot up to 30 fps continuously, this camera introduces fast and accurate phase detection autofocus for the first time in the Alpha series, along with high-quality 8K movies with 8.6K full-frame oversampling. The Sony AA1 Exmor RS™ full-frame, back-illuminated, layered CMOS sensor with 50.1 effective megapixels and built-in memory enable high-resolution image capture. The sensor’s speed and large buffer memory enable shooting up to 165 full-frame JPEG images or 155 full-frame compressed RAW images at up to 30 fps, ideal for situations where timing is crucial. Despite the high pixel count, the backlit frame, uniform-chip lens and other imaging technologies work in synergy with the BIONZ XR image processor to deliver high resolution and low noise over a wide sensitivity range, from ISO100 to 32,000, expandable to ISO50 to 102,400. The high-precision stabilization unit and image stabilization algorithms offer a significant increase in shutter speed by up to 5.5 steps.
The Sony Alpha A1 with FE 24-70mm lens supports 4K video recording in full-frame and Super 35 formats, with full pixel readouts for detailed and defined quality. The optimized menu structure, along with responsive touch functionality, offers intuitive control, further facilitated by features such as Touch Focus and Touch Tracking. As for storage, the camera supports SDXC/SDHC UHS-I and UHS-II cards, as well as the new CFexpress Type A cards, offering increased capacity and read/write speed. The Sony Alpha A1 is an all-in-one solution for professional photographers and videomakers seeking high-level performance and versatility in a compact body.
In contrast, the Sony FE 24-70 mm F2.8 GM II is a revamped standard zoom lens designed for high-performance α-system cameras. Featuring an advanced optical design and improved autofocus performance, the lens offers a versatile range for photo and video in a variety of situations. With a maximum aperture of F2.8 throughout the entire zoom range and well-defined bokeh from an 11-blade aperture unit, the effect is enhanced by precise handling of spherical aberration. The minimum focusing distance ranges from 0.21 m at 24 mm to 0.30 m at 70 mm, with a maximum magnification of 0.32x. In addition, the lens is significantly lighter and more compact than its predecessor, weighing only 695 g and presenting a significant reduction in size. Portability is further enhanced with the presence of Sony’s original 4 XD linear motors, which offer high-precision autofocus and superior tracking performance compared with the previous model. The advanced structure reduces unwanted image shifts and changes in viewing angle, ensuring smooth and expressive videos. The lens is also resistant to dust and moisture, offering reliability in demanding conditions. The presence of independent focus and aperture rings, along with linear manual focus capability, contributes to precise control. The design includes a fluorine coating to keep the front element clean and a special aperture hood for use with circular polarizing and variable ND filters. Customizable focus lock buttons simplify access and control in any orientation.
