Specifications

The Hoya Variable Density II 77 mm is a variable neutral density filter that continuously reduces exposure, without needing to change other camera or camcorder settings. It replaces a series of fixed ND filters: density adjusts from ND 3x to ND 400x, corresponding to ND0.45 – ND2.6, with a declared reduction of 1.5 to 9 stops. It is designed for photographers and filmmakers who need wider apertures in bright light or longer exposure times, for example to achieve motion blur effects, adapting to changing light without swapping the lens filter.

The Hoya Variable Density II ND filter belongs to the latest generation of Hoya variable neutral density filters. Compared to the previous version, the glass surface features additional anti-reflective coatings to reduce unwanted reflections and flare. The slimmer frame is designed to reduce the risk of vignetting and has a slightly larger outer diameter. A small knob makes it easy to set the darkening level.

As a 77 mm variable ND filter, it mounts on lenses with a 77 mm filter thread. Also referred to in video applications as the Hoya VND 77 mm, it comes with a protective case. To buy the Hoya Variable Density II on Martcom, always check the lens filter diameter before purchasing.
