Specifications

The Viltrox pancake AF 28mm F4.5 Full-frame with Sony E-mount – photographic lens represents one of the most compact and lightweight autofocus lenses available on the market.

Featuring a 6-element, 6-group optical design, including two aspherical and two ED (Extra-low Dispersion) elements, the lens offers decent image quality in the center of the frame. However, sharpness decreases significantly toward the edges, with the presence of vignetting and lateral chromatic aberrations.

The autofocus, based on a voice coil motor (VCM), is fast and quiet, making it suitable for street and video photography. The focal length of 28 mm (equivalent to 42 mm on APS-C sensors) offers a versatile perspective, while the fixed aperture at f/4.5 limits depth of field and low-light performance. The metal body lends ruggedness, but the lack of sealing against dust and moisture and the absence of filter threads can be limitations in harsh environments. Despite these limitations, the Viltrox AF 28mm f/4.5 FE is an excellent choice for those seeking an ultra-portable lens for everyday use and travel.
