ECM-W3 includes 2 microphone-transmitter units with high signal-to-noise (S/N) ratio and a 2-channel receiver. Audio is digitally processed and transmitted wirelessly, so that the voices of 2 interlocutors are captured and recorded with exceptional clarity and low noise. By connecting the 2-channel receiver to 1 Sony camera that supports Multi Interface (MI) Shoe, such as α-series interchangeable lens digital cameras or vlog cameras, the digital audio signal output from the receiver can be recorded directly from the camera body, for high-quality audio with minimal noise. The microphone includes a noise suppression filter with digital signal processing and a low-pass filter that reduces noise at low frequencies. Less noise removal is required in post-production for greater efficiency. A safety function allows 2 audio signals to be recorded together, one at normal volume and the other 20 dB lower, reducing the risk of interruptions during loud recording. An attenuator function allows a choice of 3 recording levels based on audio volume. A 3.5 mm mini-jack (monaural) is provided as the input terminal for the external microphone side, and a 3.5 mm mini-jack (stereo) on the receiver side serves as the audio output terminal. In addition to audio capture via compatible stereo lavalier microphone, output to devices without Multi Interface (MI) Shoe can also be used. Digital audio (48 kHz/24 bit) can be transmitted from the receiver via USB cable to a smartphone or PC, or to a compatible device with USB audio input for recording. The LINK light indicates the status of the communication channel between the microphone and the receiver to avoid recording errors. The POWER lights on the microphone and receiver indicate the battery level to avoid recording errors due to low batteries. Power is supplied directly from α-series interchangeable lens digital cameras or vlog cameras to the receiver. A compact charging case is included in the package so you can continue recording without worrying about running out of battery power. The microphone-transmitter unit has a battery life of about 6 hours on a full charge.

Weight

Rx: 25 g
Tx: 17 g

Dimensions

Rx: 3,2 x 2,9 x 5 cm
Tx: 2,5 x 5,25 x 2,05 cm

Energy consumption

Rx: 0,18 W
Tx: 0,09 W

Frequency response

From 20 Hz to 20 Hz

Sensibility

–20 dBFS (0,1 Pa, 1 kHz)

Battery

Built-in lithium-ion battery, approx. 3.7 V

Battery life

6 hours

Connectivity

Rx: USB/Lightning: USB-C female

The Sony ECM-W3 wireless microphone system with 2 microphones and two-channel receiver enables crisp voice recording with low noise.

Sony Cameras, Lenses and Accessories

Sony has a history of innovation in digital imaging with full‑frame and APS‑C mirrorless cameras offering real‑time autofocus, excellent image quality and compact design.
