Canon RF 14-35mm F4 L IS USM – photographic lens is ultra-wide and stabilised, versatile, with an advanced optical design. Gaining a bit in width, this zoom lens offers a wider field of view to suit landscape, nature and architectural applications, and its modest maximum aperture contributes to a sleek, highly portable design for walkaround shooting.
In terms of optics, the lens is worthy of its L-series designation and features three aspherical and three UD elements that produce a highly corrected image with high sharpness and accurate colour rendition. A trio of unique coatings have also been applied to suppress flare and ghost images throughout the entire zoom range. The L-series designation also indicates a rugged physical structure, and this 14-35mm is weather sealed and features a fluorine coating on exposed elements for additional protection against the elements.
Unique among ultra-wide lenses, this lens also features an optical image stabiliser that compensates for camera shake by up to 5.5 stops, or up to 7 stops when combined with IBIS-equipped cameras. In addition, there is a Nano USM for fast, quiet autofocus performance and a minimum focusing distance of only 7.9″ throughout the entire zoom range for creative wide-angle close-up shots. The wide-angle zoom lens is designed for use with Canon’s full-frame RF-mount mirrorless cameras and maintains constant illumination throughout the zoom range.
The Optical Image Stabiliser helps minimise the appearance of camera shake by 5.5 stops to allow for better work in low light and slower shutter speeds. Up to 7 stops of correction when used on EOS R series cameras with built-in image stabilisation.
The Canon RF 14-35mm has a Nano USM system that utilises both a ring-type USM mechanism and an STM mechanism to realise fast and accurate, yet smooth and near-silent focusing, suitable for both photography and video applications. This focusing system also allows full manual control of focus when working in single-shot AF mode.
The configurable control dial can be used to adjust a range of exposure settings, including aperture, ISO and exposure compensation.
